Class uses active yoga in the form of strong hatha, therapeutics, flow, and restorative to create a well-rounded, ever-changing and expanding sequence. Ashtanga Led Primary is a led, flowing practice that includes vinyasas and connecting breath to movement, while balancing strength and flexibility in a fun, invigorating atmosphere. The Ashtanga Primary Series is a pre-established sequence developed by Pattabhi Jois. Basic understanding of yoga required.
New students are taught individually small amounts of a set sequence (Ashtanga Primary Series) that increases over time, depending on how frequently the student attends the class and the capacity of the student (based on strength, flexibility, focus, and stamina). When practiced consistently, the poses reveal strength, purification, and alignment in the body, breath, and mind. Once the portion of the sequence given has been memorized, new postures are introduced and added to the sequence. A teacher is present to offer guidance, assistance, modifications, and to answer questions. Mysore is a simple, effective, ancient method of learning yoga. As a beginner, you can expect to be in class for 20-30 minutes. As you advance, your practice will increase to 1-1.5 hours. Class will move through basic yoga postures giving Sanskrit names in an effort to introduce students to yoga terminology. This class is great for beginners, and for students who are familiar with yoga and want to take a closer look at alignment and breathing within poses they may have done many times before. Beginners are encouraged to take this class.
How do you, in this very busy world, give yourself space to find a quiet mind? In this class we will practice three different yoga modalities that will serve you in dropping out of your mind and into your body. This class is a combination of gentle styles of yoga offered with the intention of letting go of a long week while simultaneously rejuvenating in preparation for the weekend. Release & Restore mixes Gentle Yoga (grounding, accessible, simple poses), Yin Yoga (deep passive stretching), and Restorative Yoga (passive yoga poses with prop support) to accomplish the goal of releasing and restoring our bodies and minds. Class will consist of breathing exercises along with passive, relaxed, supported poses that create space for deep meditation. Restorative Yoga is meant to activate the Rest & Digest reaction in the body by igniting the parasympathetic nervous system in a supportive, easeful environment. All Levels.

This style of class synchronizes breath with movement to create internal heat, thereby purifying the body while calming the mind. It also increases endurance and will test the edge of your balance and flexibility.
