Now in my 16th year as a yoga instructor I feel like I learn the most from paying attention to the energy of the room and following the classes lead. Be the leader but follow the lead. It's crucial that the students are breathing and moving and experiencing themselves in potential hardship or a feeling of chaos and yet sticking with it and working it out. I come from a great line of yoga professionals and inspire to bring their knowledge with me to every class. Richard Freeman, Eddie Stern, Dharma Mittra, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and Sharath Jois, are all at the top of my list.

My hope is that students learn to feel and experience that union of body, mind and spirit in yoga. That they come to understand, that each time we step on our met we grow as a person. Maybe a little or a lot but we grow, and because of this awareness we learn how to tolerate our lives with greater levels of peace and acceptance. Certainly a goal worth striving for.
