About Siesta Yoga
Our name "Siesta Yoga" is based on the ideals behind the siesta. It is a multicultural, multilingual, rejuvenating, relaxing, enjoyable experience. That is why we believe yoga can be for anyone. Our classes leave students feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to continue their day or night.
Once you take that step onto your mat (the hardest part of the practice), you will immediately begin to feel a sense of calm come over you, an excitement to go further, a pointed focus on your internal Self. We are eager to provide yogic healing to anyone seeking it. Our students are supportive and precious to us. They are the "community of happy, healthy yogis" that we sought to create upon opening in November 2011.
Siesta Yoga is a yoga studio committed to traditional yogic ideals. Most classes use little to no music in order to focus the mind on our life force, breath. This focus on breath is one of the many class customs that honor Krishnamacharya, Pattabhi Jois, and B.K.S. Iyengar, the founders of or inspiration behind the types of yoga taught here. Students are adjusted until alignment is reached, which makes them comfortable and steady in their poses. We help our students to honor their own skin, their own practice, and the depths of their own mind. With that, they are able to more fully share in the joyful communal experience of yoga in and outside of the yoga room. Christian and Brandee are true believers in the positive affects of yoga. It balances the physical, mental, and emotional bodies so that they naturally seek out better health, which expands the senses and deepens mental awareness. We invite you to join us in taking a step toward fully appreciating your own body, toward simply being yourself. After all, “everyone else is already taken” (Oscar Wilde).
